Watch a whale shark seemingly appear out of nowhere and completely catch a diver by surprise as it swims by. The whale shark(Rhincodon typus) is a slow-moving filter feeding shark and the largest known extant fish species. The largest confirmed individual had a length of 12.65 m (41.50 ft) and a weight of more than 21.5 metric tons.
I was out diving with these magnificent animals as they gather here every year to feed on microscopic fish eggs. This particular whale shark was around 32 feet long.
